Lots of training actually went into half marathon. I was dedicated and really stuck to a training schedule. Having a running buddy helped a ton and I was set to do better in this half marathon than the one I did 10 years ago. Thanks to Shannon I was forced to get up at the crack of dawn for 3 months to run.
We made it a little girls trip to San Diego for the race and had some nice relaxing girl time too. I want to make a special shout out to Liz for going along for the support and being our cheer squad. It was sure nice to see her cheering us on right before the finish line.
This race raised money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I dedicated this race to my brother Jason that passed away from Lymphoma. It was nice to have some extra motivation to run this for him.
Just some fun pictures of us picking up our packets and getting ready to run.
We had to be at the start line a few hours before the race. Not really my thing to get up before the sun but I was slightly forced out of bed with bright lights and early birds in the room.
Wow that was an amazing amount of runners. Who knew so many people ran this far!
Post race chocolate milk and a selfie. I finished strong and ran the whole way! 2:28! Much better than I had originally planned. I'm a little over running for now. On to the next venture.
Another special shout out to everyone for the support, especially my hubby that put up with Saturday mornings all by himself with the kids while I spent hours training.
Oh and listening to me complain about another long run.
